more precisely, a datalog Program, whose rules describe the patterns to be extracted. The program (aka wrapper) can then be applied to similarily structured Web pages for extracting the appropriate patterns and translating them into XML. In the second part of the talk, some theoretical issues on Lixto will be presented. We will show that Lixto expresses monadic second order logic over trees (i.e., Parsing trees of Web Pages).
