Peach: Program Each Agent and Communicate Howsoever

We contribute Peach, an approach to program an agent that decouples reasoning about the meanings of communications from the underlying communication infrastructure. Peach’s conceptual component is a programming model based on Langshaw, a protocol language based on communicative actions, whose abstractions promotemeaningandhidecoordinationdetails. Peach’scomputational component is an adapter that can be configured for different infrastructures. We provide an operational semantics for this adapter that maps our programming model to two main kinds of infrastructure: decentralized (via messages) or shared-memory.
