We present Discoverse, the first unified, modular, open-source 3DGS-based simulation framework for Real2Sim2Real robot learning. It features a holistic Real2Sim pipeline that synthesizes hyper-realistic geometry and appearance of complex real-world scenarios, paving the way for analyzing and bridging the Sim2Real gap. Powered by Gaussian Splatting and MuJoCo, Discoverse enables massively parallel simulation of multiple sensor modalities and accurate physics, with inclusive supports for existing 3D assets, robot models, and ROS plugins, empowering large-scale robot learning and complex robotic benchmarks. Through extensive experiments on imitation learning, Dis coverse demonstrates state-of-the-art zero-shot Sim2Real transfer performance compared to existing simulators. The Real2Sim2Real (R2S2R) paradigm is critical for advancing robotic learning. Existing methods lack a comprehensive solution to accurately reconstruct real-world objects with both spatial representations and their associated physics attributes in the Real2Sim stage. We propose a Real2Sim pipeline to generate digital assets enabling high-fidelity simulation. We design a hybrid repre-sentation model that integrates mesh geometry, 3D Gaussian kernels, and physics attributes to enhance the representation of robotic arms in digital assets. This hybrid representation is implemented through a Gaussian-Mesh-Pixel binding technique, which establishes an isomorphic mapping between mesh vertices and the Gaussian model. This enables a fully differentiable rendering pipeline that can be optimized through numerical solvers, achieves high-fidelity rendering via Gaussian Splatting, and facilitates physically plausible simulation of the robotic arm's interaction with its environment through mesh geometry. With the digital assets, we propose a fully manipulable Real2Sim pipeline that standardizes coordinate systems and scales, ensuring the seamless integration of multiple components. To demonstrate its effectiveness, we include datasets covering various robotic manipulation tasks with their mesh reconstructions. Our model achieves state-of-the-art results in realistic rendering and mesh reconstruction quality for robotic applications. Our code and datasets will be made publicly available at robostudioapp. com.

Incorporating a robotic manipulator into a wheellegged robot enhances its agility and expands its potential for practical applications. However, the presence of potential instability and uncertainties presents additional challenges for control objectives. In this paper, we introduce an arm-constrained curriculum learning architecture to tackle the issues introduced by adding the manipulator. Firstly, we develop an arm-constrained reinforcement learning algorithm to ensure safety and reliability in control performance after equipping the manipulator. Additionally, to address discrepancies in reward settings between the arm and the base, we propose a reward-aware curriculum learning method. The policy is first trained in Isaac gym and transferred to the physical robot to complete grasping tasks, including the door-opening task, fan-twitching task and the relay-baton-picking and following task. The results demonstrate that our proposed approach effectively controls the arm-equipped wheel-legged robot to master grasping abilities including the dynamic grasping skills, allowing it to chase and catch a moving object while in motion. Enhancement for Robustness of Koopman Operator-based Data-driven Mobile Robotic Systems

Koopman operator theory has served as the basis to extract dynamics for nonlinear system modeling and control across settings, including non-holonomic mobile robot control. There is a growing interest in research to derive robustness (and/or safety) guarantees for systems the dynamics of which are extracted via the Koopman operator. In this paper, we propose a way to quantify the prediction error because of noisy measurements when the Koopman operator is approximated via Extended Dynamic Mode Decomposition. We further develop an enhanced robot control strategy to endow robustness to a class of data-driven (robotic) systems that rely on Koopman operator theory, and we show how part of the strategy can happen offline in an effort to make our algorithm capable of real-time implementation. We perform a parametric study to evaluate the (theoretical) performance of the algorithm using a Van der Pol oscillator, and conduct a series of simulated experiments in Gazebo using a non-holonomic wheeled robot.
